ADJUMANI CELEBRATE EASTER, CHRISTIANS URGED TO EMBRACE FORGIVNESS AND UNITY
By Anzoo Evaline.

Christians in Adjumani District have been called upon to live in harmony, practice forgiveness, and reflect the life of Jesus Christ as they celebrate Easter.
The call was made by Rev. Fr. Manus Kobbi, the curate priest of Adjumani Catholic Parish, during the opening prayers of the Easter period as Christians remembered the crucifixion of Jesus Christ during the way of the cross on Good Friday.
Rev. Fr. Manus also emphasized the importance of living a Christ-like life despite the challenges people face in society.
“All of us who believe in God must live our lives the way Jesus Christ lived is. Therefore, many evil things are being done to different people. When a bad thing is happening to you, your brother, your sister, your father, your mother, or your coworker, anybody who wants to injure you, you must treat him the way Jesus Christ treated those who punished him without sin,” he said.

Rev. Fr. Kobbi further challenged Christians to examine how they respond to wrongdoing in their communities, urging them to choose forgiveness over hatred.
“I don’t know what each one is experiencing, but if we know that the wrong things are happening also in our district. How are we handling it? Are we hating those who injure us or we are ready to forgive them and also let them go and pray for them so that they change,” he added.
Some Christians who participated in the prayers echoed similar sentiments, calling for peace and reconciliation within the community.
“I today pray uh that every suffering of all individual in our community, especially the past days that it stops, that we stay in harmony because we know what happened during the campaigns and how we do live as Monday. Today is a day that we really see and we beg every person to forgive any other person who has uh wrong him or her,” said Vundrule Jackson, a Christian.
Leaders also used the occasion to highlight the real-life struggles faced by many residents and encouraged believers to remain steadfast in faith.
“My message to the Christian today is that this way of cross is a demonstration of the challenges we are facing on this world. Challenges of lack of enough food, lack of paying school fees, challenges of failing to treat some complicated sickness because they don’t have enough money. So, I want the Christians to understand these challenges is exactly the way we have demonstrated the suffering of Christ. But with our faith we can overcome all these challenges,” said Hon. Anyanzo John Ambayo, the LC5 Chairperson-elect of Adjumani District.
Hon. Anyanzo also urged Christians to remain committed to prayer and hard work as a way of overcoming life’s hardships.
“So, we should be faithful and profess our faith so that we can overcome these challenges through prayers and hard work,” he added.
The Way of the Cross, an important Christian devotion especially during the Lenten season, serves as a reminder of the suffering of Jesus Christ and calls believers to reflect on their lives, promote peace, and strengthen unity within their communities.
