The turnout is good, learners are studying well, and all teachers are present. There is no teacher absent,\u201d<\/em> Iwama said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He attributed the smooth start to early mobilization efforts through radio announcements and direct communication with School Management Committee (SMC) members and PTA executives, who helped sensitize parents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/media4all-uganda.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Adjumani-Girls-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3212\" srcset=\"https:\/\/media4all-uganda.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Adjumani-Girls-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/media4all-uganda.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Adjumani-Girls-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/media4all-uganda.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Adjumani-Girls-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/media4all-uganda.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Adjumani-Girls-600x450.jpg 600w, https:\/\/media4all-uganda.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Adjumani-Girls.jpg 1431w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Pupils of Adjumani Girls\u2019 Primary School during lesson hours.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, at <strong>Adjumani Girls\u2019 Primary School<\/strong>, Deputy Headteacher <strong>Olima Lawrence<\/strong> reported an impressive <strong>day-one attendance of 929 learners<\/strong>, comprising <strong>432 girls<\/strong> and <strong>497 boys<\/strong>. He added that all <strong>24 teachers<\/strong>, including government and PTA-paid staff, were present and teaching had already begun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cMy appeal to parents who have not yet registered their children is to hurry up because lessons have already started. The worst affected will be the learners who miss class,\u201d<\/em> Olima urged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the situation was slightly different in some private schools. At <strong>Redeemer Children\u2019s Primary School<\/strong>, Headteacher <strong>Sr. Mary Magdalene<\/strong> said although learners had started reporting, the turnout was lower than usual for the first day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cWe received 531 learners today, but generally the turnout is low compared to previous terms. Many parents are still coming to register, possibly due to financial challenges,\u201d<\/em> she explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Education stakeholders in the district say while government schools have shown a promising start, continued sensitization is needed to encourage parents to ensure all children report to school early and do not miss valuable learning time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>END.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Anzoo Evaline.
